Infrastructure

Appropriate and effective infrastructure provides access to economic, social and political opportunity and is a fundamental driver of sustainable and long-term development. IRG understands the linkages between infrastructure, economic development, community development and the delivery of vital services that are critical to a country’s stability. An industry leader in combining both the “hard” side of construction with the “soft” side of policy reform, technical assistance, and capacity-building, IRG’s skills lie in managing stakeholders and bringing them together to ensure that reconstruction and the restoration of services take place, quickly, effectively, and with accountability. In all sectors of infrastructure, IRG works closely with host country governments, municipalities and communities to ensure that infrastructure investments provide maximum benefit to the people and countries targeted.

  • Engineering and Construction Program Management in Water, Power, Transportation, Vertical Structures, and Telecommunications
  • Institutional Strengthening

Select projects include:

Helping to Rebuild Lives and Strengthen Communities
Intended to provide assistance in rehabilitation, livelihood, and rebuilding of economic and social infrastructure in the Aceh and North Sumatra provinces damaged by the 2004 earthquake and tsunami, the Road/Bridge reconstruction is USAID's “signature” contribution to the Aceh disaster relief effort. This West Coast highway is crucial to economic growth in the region, as well as infrastructure and environmental services. IRG, as a major subcontractor on this project, has taken the lead in consulting on environmental compliance and management and select training on road operations and maintenance. Indonesia: Banda Aceh Road Construction

Developing Alternative Energy Sources for a Cleaner Environment
IRG is providing technical assistance and training services to the Government of Nepal to improve the enabling environment of hydropower development. IRG is also working to strengthen environmental and social assessments and broaden stakeholder participation in this effort. To manage this multifaceted project, IRG has implemented a project management tracking system that is helping project managers and USAID stay current on the status of this ongoing effort. Nepal: Sustainable Hydropower Development

Paving the Way for Construction Opportunities and Investment Prospects
IRG is tasked with providing pre-feasibility analyses and definitional studies conducted on behalf of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) for Mali’s Bamoko-Senou Airport and Industrial Park. This is the first phase of the MCC’s due diligence process for preparation of an Investment Memorandum with the Government of Mali. The project envisions infrastructure and building improvements to Bamako-Senou Airport and development of a 200-hectare Industrial Park within the airport domain. IRG is subcontractor to Parsons Brinckerhoff and is responsible for the environmental, social, economic and financial studies of this project.
