Good governance establishes the sound foundation on which a democratic society rests—including rule of law, transparency, and participation—while maintaining peace and creating the conditions for economic growth and security. It also enables effective policy implementation and enforcement. IRG helps countries address the challenges of sound governance, from establishing constitutional laws to promoting inclusive and participatory systems that create a demand for better government services. We work with host-country officials and civil society organizations to build the skills, tools, and technical expertise needed to build accountable and responsive local government.
