Integrated Energy System Modeling

IRG is a leading developer and user of Integrated Energy System Models at the global, national, regional, state and municipal levels.   The IRG-Analytics business area uses the MARKAL/TIMES energy systems modeling platform to construct models and analyze energy, economic and environmental issues over several decades.  This set of software tools provides a framework for exploring, evaluating and quantifying alternative futures and the roles that various policy options may have on technology and resource choices.

IRG-Analytics builds energy system models, conducts studies, capacity building and model transfer undertakings on behalf of donors, governments and the private sector.  It also performs policy analyses to evaluate energy supply/security options, compare supply-demand investment trade-offs, assess development programs and strategies, and identify optimal technology pathways for achieving environmental goals.

First US MARKAL/TIMES Symposium

International Resources Group's IRG-Analytics Team and the US EPA Office of Research and Development (ORD) Energy and Climate Assessment (ECA) Team co-hosted the first US MARKAL/TIMES Symposium on September 28-29, 2009 at US EPA's offices in Research Triangle Park, NC. Please visit the link above for an event summary of the Symposium and to view available presentations.
